At Little stars our highly trained staff support the learning and development of your children from the day they start!

We offer thorough settling in visits for families when we learn all about your child's interests, play and development, including you all in the process which we call a Learning Journey!

What is a Learning journey?
 

We use a fully secure online platform to record your child's learning and development with us.  This is called Tapestry.

Tapestry is an online learning journal, which is an easy to use, a secure app, capturing key learning moments and recording milestones easier, which helps staff and families to celebrate their children’s learning and development. 
 

Tapestry allows us to build a special record of a child’s experience, development and learning journey through their early years journey. By using photos, videos and written entries, staff, along with the child’s parents are able to communicate about the child’s development.

As parents you can also add photos and videos on tapestry, we love to see what you get up to!

How do we support your child's learning?

Your child's interests are at the heart of everything we do! We put them at the center of their learning and it is personalised for them by the role of the staff and Key Person.  We do something called "In The Moment Planning!"
 

In The Moment Planning is as it says ‘Planning in the moment’, and this is something we use within the nursery on a daily basis. In the Moment Planning, allows the practitioners to PLAY, children are engaged in purposeful play either child or adult initiated. We use the children’s interests to find teachable moments in their play – play is the planning!

How do you assess Children's learning?

Staff undertake weekly observations and work towards developmental goals using a framework called the Early Years Foundation Stage.  We support children to make progress working in partnership with parents and looking at "next Steps of learning for your children.  Don't worry, children all develop and learn at different rates and stages, but through play we encourage children's whole development!
